Tobacco Cessation Pilot
Tobacco Cessation Pilot Project
In April of 2008, The National Association of Community Health Centers began a multiphase pilot project in collaboration with the American Legacy Foundation whereby Community HealthCorps members are placed in low-income community health settings (sites) across the country. The next (two-year) phase of the pilot is only open to HealthCorps sites and affiliates that currently offer on-site tobacco cessation programming for adults at one or more locations. Examples of on-site cessations services include: tobacco cessation classes, cessation support groups, and individual or group counseling. Specifically, the goals for this phase of the pilot project are:
- To enhance the capacity for community health centers to address adult tobacco cessation.
- To assess receptivity among clients and usability among staff of the EX® educational materials through formal cessation programs at the community health centers (see the EX® Materials Assessment section for more information).
