Helping out on MLK Day.

Helping out on MLK Day.

MLK Day is a significant day in our history. We went out to show the community that we care by packaging food and help build the Happy Trails Riding Academy for children with Autism. First, we went to foodlinks packaging to package goods such as juice packets to be opened, unpackage, repackage and sent out. We figured a strategy on how to package the goods which was a challenge. Overall with a great help and team work we managed to ship the goods and help out our community.

Our day wasn't over. Our next stop was Happy Trails Riding Academy. We started by learning the history of the academy. It was a place where children with Autism would learn how to ride horses and how to manage a ranch. We also learned that they were going to build a shade for the riders but they needed to figure out how to dispose of the water by building a trench that leads the water away and safely. By doing this we placed rocks on either side of the trench. It was tough since placing rocks on a steep trench was unstable.

Overall this day was a day filled with team work and satisfaction from the community.  It has helped us learn that there isn't just a small community of people of certain class or race but there is a community that we can be open to everyone.
